The 13th New Jersey Regiment Disposition Analysis

The Sankey Diagram below shows what happened to each of the nearly 900 soldiers who were on the original muster roll for the 13th New Jersey regiment in August 1862.  It does not include soldiers who joined the regiment at a later time.   The data is by company and the number of soldiers will be shown when hovering over each company, path, and final disposition.   This shows when each solder left the regiment permanently.  A man could have been wounded, sick, or deserted and returned to the regiment at a later time and mustered out with the regiment in 1865.  The Veteran's Reserve Corps (VRC) was originally called the Invalid Corps and was a military reserve organization that allowed partially disabled soldiers to perform light duty, thus freeing up able-bodied soldiers for front-line duty.
